Sharpe chronicles the seasons and the vibrant wildlife of a landscape she cherishes\, offering her keen insights in an engaging narrative that celebrates the splendor of the natural world. Heir to John Burroughs\, who tramped through these mountains more than a hundred years before her\, Sharpe revisits the meadows\, creeks\, and bobcat dens and invites us to come along for the trek. \nWith Catskill Creatures\, Nancy Furstinger spotlights fifteen species of wildlife with intriguing facts and dramatic illustrations. Sharpe is a former Vice President of the New York City Bird Alliance and a naturalist living in the Great Western Catskills. Her book won a Gold Medal from the Independent Book Publishers Book Award for excellence. \nNancy Furstinger has written over 100 children’s books. \n\n(Note: Due to limited parking\, if able\, please park in the Lower Comeau parking lot and take the path at the end of the lot to the Historical Society. Accessible parking is available at the museum.) \nThe Historical Society of Woodstock was founded in 1929 by a group of artists\, writers\, academics\, and local citizens. In addition to the exhibition space\, which is located at the historic Eames House on Comeau Drive in the center of Woodstock\, the Historical Society has an extensive archive consisting of paintings\, prints\, drawings\, sculpture\, textiles\, photographs\, books\, manuscripts\, correspondence\, documents\, film/sound recordings\, and antique tools. The archive serves as a resource for a wide range of exhibitions\, public programming\, and research.
